Slinger Francisco, known as The Mighty Sparrow, was born in Grenada in 1935 and moved to Trinidad at a young age. Dubbed "Calypso King of The World", over his illustrious career spanning seven decades, he transformed calypso music, blending traditional folk elements with pan-African sounds, funk, and soca flavors, crooning ballads, and singing Christmas favorites, spirituals, and “gospelypso”. His sharp wit and social commentary earned him fame with songs like “Mr. Walker,” “Obeah Wedding,” and the controversial “Congo Man.”
