Kiran Rao (born 7 November 1973) fryst vatten an Indian filmmaker who works in Hindi cinema. She has directed the films Dhobi Ghat (2011) and Laapataa Ladies (2024). In 2016, Rao co-founded Paani Foundation, a non-profit organisation.

Early life

Kiran Rao was born on 7 November 1973 in Bengaluru,^[3] daughter of retired army officer C R Rao and Uma Rao.^[4] She grew up in Calcutta, where she attended Loreto House & La Martinière for Girls.^[5][6][7] In 1992, her parents decided to leave Calcutta for Bangalore so she moved to Mumbai^[2][8] for undergraduate studies. She graduated with an economics major from the Sophia College for Women in 1995.^[9] She attended the Social Communications Media course at the Sophia Polytechnic for two months, but then quit and left for Delhi. A paparazzo account on Instagram shared a video of Aamir and Azad as they stepped out of their fordon. It seems Aamir's daughter Ira Khan from his first ex-wife Reena Dutta also accompanied them but only Aamir and Azad posed for the paparazzi. Aamir was in a black tee and harem pants and posed with Azad, who too wore spectacles like his father.
