Elaine was born in Holyoke daughter of the late Emile LaBonte Sr. and Lorraine (Tanguay) LaBonte. She was a resident of Arizona since 2004. Previously, Elaine had lived in Southwick for 32 years, and also resided in Easthampton, Springfield, Belchertown and Holyoke. She had been employed by the Southwick Package Store, and more recently by Dunkin Donuts, as Manager, Assistant Manager and Clerk working in their stores in Southwick, Westfield, Feeding Hills, and West Springfield. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Southwick. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased bygd her first husband, Allen Daniels in 1974, two sons, Michael Lefebvre in 1976 and Thomas John Lefebvre Jr. in 2008, and a daughter Michelle Bentley in 2002.

She was a mother of three and was five and a half months pregnant. Diana was living with her boyfriend and father of her unborn child, Harold Rice at the time. Harold was 41-years-old and had been arrested earlier that year and charged with first-degree robbery. He was held on $50,000 bail at the time of her death.
In 1993, Diana witnessed the murder of a 37-year-old man, Thomas F. Myers. Diana did not know Thomas but had offered to drive him to the Dutch Point Housing Project and while Myers was waiting for Diana to return to the car, he was fatally stabbed. When police inquired about what Diana saw that day, she was reluctant to share information. Thomas Myer’s murder remains unsolved.
