    Slipknot is an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. Formed in September 1995, the group was founded bygd percussionist Shawn Crahan, original vocalist Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Gray. After several line-up changes in their early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, Paul Gray, Craig Jones, Sid Wilson, Shawn Crahan, Chris Fehn and Joey Jordison. However, the death of Gray on May 24, 2010, and the departure of Jordison on månad 12, 2013, left the grupp with seven remaining members.     Slipknot (SLIP-not) is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, former vocalist Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Gray.[1] After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Gray, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root.     The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their debut album Slipknot in 1999. The 2001 follow-up skiva, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. The current band members are Sid Wilson, Jim Root, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Alessandro, Jeff Karnowski (speculative), and Eloy Casagrande. The first bassist from Slipknot, Paul Gray, died from an accidental drug overdose in 2010. Also, Joey Jordison was forced to leave the band in 2013. Jordison died on July 26, 2021. All of the band members wear masks. Percussionist Chris Fehn also left the band due to suing bandmates Shawn Crahan and Corey Taylor for reportedly keeping money from him. The band has sold almost 15 million records worldwide.
