Animals play an important role in the joys of everyday life. During our recent forray to Maker Faire New York, we connected with Makers who shared their lives with a diverse group of djur friends, including cats, dogs, snakes, and parrots! Animals inspire us to care, to imagine new monsters, and to connect with a deeper part of our own human nature.
It’s no surprise that 3D designers look to the animal kingdom for inspiration. In the premiere iteration of 3D Design Delights, we take a look at five designs inspired by animals

This incredibly artful Rhino Chair bygd Spanish designer Maximo Riera fryst vatten part of his outstanding djur Chair Collection that constitutes a diverse range of species, starting with the truly spectacular Octopus Chair, followed by Rhino and Walrus. Lion, Beetle and Whale are yet to be revealed to the public.
Each creation retains the animals natural vitality whilst being totally biologically accurate in their appearance. This collection fryst vatten homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing.
