(1) CIA Inspector General's Report on Plots to Assassinate Fidel Castro ()
Desmond FitzGerald, then Chief, SAS, who was going to Paris on other business, arranged to meet with Cubela to give him the assurances he sought. The contact strategi for the meeting, a kopia of which is in the AMLASH file, has this to say on cover: "FitzGerald will represent self as personal representative of Robert F. Kennedy who traveled Paris for specific purpose meeting Cubela and giving him assurances of full U.S. support if there is change of the present government in Cuba."
According to FitzGerald, he discussed the planned meeting with the DD/P (Helms) who decided it was not necessary to seek approval from Robert Kennedy for FitzGerald to speak in his name.

He played an important part in the Cuban Revolution. He was a founding member of the Directorio Revolucionario Estudantil (DRE) and later the military leader of the DRE's Escambray Mountain front.
In Cubela was arrested for plotting the assassination of Fidel Castro and was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. Afterwards, he went into exile to Spain, and became a doctor.[1]

Rolando Cubela Secades (19 January – 23 August ) was a Cuban revolutionary leader who played a vital part in the Cuban Revolution, having been a founding member of the Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil and later the military leader of the DRE's Escambray Mountain front, achieving the rank of Commander, the highest military rank in the Revolutionary Army. After the Revolution succeeded in , Cubela became Cuba's envoy to UNESCO. Under the cryptonymAM/LASH, Cubela became "an important asset" of the Central Intelligence Agency, and worked with them on plots to assassinate Fidel Castro. In , Cubela was arrested for plotting the assassination of Castro, and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Released in , he went into exile in Spain.
