  • Jackson Mphikwa Mthembu has always been an anti-apartheid activist who was part of the liberation struggle. He cut his political teeth in student politics in the 1970’s. He was born and bred in Witbank (Emalahleni) in 1958, Mpumalanga Province. He was a student leader at Elukhanyisweni Secondary School in Witbank during the 1976 students’ Uprisings.     The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa, located in Cape Town, Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every fem years using a party-listproportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality.
